Villa in Opio: an elegant renovation combining interior design and contemporary decor
Nestled in the heart of the Cannes hinterland, in Opio, this villa recently underwent a complete renovation project, combining interior design, custom construction, thoughtful layout, and minimalist decor. This project, led by our interior designer Diana Falavel and in close collaboration with renowned architect Bernard Fauroux, perfectly illustrates our vision: to transform a living space into a harmonious, aesthetic, and functional space, where every detail is important.

A renovation thought out down to the smallest detail
From the very first sketches, the objective of this renovation project was clear: to modernize a Provençal villa while respecting its natural surroundings, abundant light, and original character. The volumes were reimagined to create seamless circulation, optimal comfort, and a genuine sense of openness throughout the home.
The architectural approach focused on clean lines, premium materials, and a restrained color palette to create a warm and soothing atmosphere. This structural renovation was complemented by the construction of new architectural features, including an open-plan kitchen connected to the living area, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, and outdoor spaces designed in harmony with the surrounding vegetation.
Interior Architecture Dedicated to Well-Being
Every project we undertake at Living 71 is an exploration of how people interact with space. In this villa, interior architecture played a fundamental role. The objective was to establish a visual and sensory continuity between indoors and outdoors while paying particular attention to the balance of volumes, natural light, and materiality.
The main living areas, including the lounge and dining room, were conceived as bright, open cocoons connected to nature. The walls are finished in a soft, uniform beige that soothes the eye and encourages relaxation. Carefully selected furnishings feature clean, elegant lines that embody a spirit of refined simplicity.
Bespoke Space Planning for a Fluid and Functional Home
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this project stands out for its meticulous approach to space planning. The original layout was completely rethought to improve circulation, optimize storage solutions, and establish a clear hierarchy between living areas, bedrooms, workspaces, and service rooms.
Each space was designed to fulfill a specific purpose without ever compromising style or overall coherence. In the kitchen, for example, the central island becomes the heart of the home—equally practical for cooking and for gathering with family and friends. The bedrooms offer a sense of privacy and tranquility, featuring integrated furniture and discreet storage solutions that enhance the feeling of spaciousness.
Interior Design: Simplicity, Natural Materials, and a Zen Atmosphere
The interior design, curated by our decorator, was guided by a clear desire to create a minimalist yet welcoming atmosphere. Nothing is superfluous; every object, texture, and decorative element was carefully selected to reinforce a sense of serenity.
Natural materials are present throughout the home. Linen is used for curtains and cushions, while light-toned matte wood defines the furniture, flooring, and selected ceiling features. These materials bring warmth to the interiors while emphasizing the property's clean and understated character. A palette of neutral colors—ranging from beige and ecru to soft sand tones—enhances the overall feeling of calm sophistication and timeless elegance.
Construction and Design: A Collaboration of Excellence
This project was completed in partnership with architect Bernard Fauroux, renowned for his ability to combine innovation, respect for the site, and contemporary aesthetics. This collaboration enabled us to merge our expertise in bespoke construction with a strong and distinctive architectural vision.
The Opio villa perfectly illustrates what Living 71 can deliver: a harmonious synergy between renovation, interior architecture, bespoke space planning, and refined interior design, all within a coherent approach tailored to the client’s aspirations. Every project is unique, and that uniqueness is precisely what makes our work so rewarding.
An Exemplary Project in an Exceptional Natural Setting
With its understated charm and preserved landscapes, Opio provides the ideal setting for this type of high-end residential project. Surrounded by umbrella pines, century-old olive trees, and rolling green hills, the villa blends effortlessly into its environment. The garden, entirely redesigned as part of the project, extends the living spaces outdoors through a reinterpreted Mediterranean aesthetic featuring shaded terraces, raw wood outdoor furniture, and light beige gravel pathways.
The transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces were conceived as visual breathing spaces, enhanced by generous openings, carefully orchestrated natural light, and a unified design language. Particular attention was given to the relationship between the home and its surrounding landscape, creating a living environment that is both restorative and deeply connected to nature.
